I have just finished watching a Christmas movie, you know the one, which is heartfelt and full off love and lessons. Oh wait they are all like that.

I won’t lie there was a moment where I am thinking to myself, you should be writing emails to your Be Creative subscribers or creating a sales page for those new t shirts.

But I couldn’t stop watching. It wasn’t even as if it was exceptionally good, just the soppy romantic lost and found live happily ever after type of movie that you get sucked into….except for one thing.

So why am I telling you this. I love my life but I am also little obsessed and have tunnel vision when I have something in my sights, that is code for I can be a workaholic. I will spend hours at my desk creating and developing my ideas and my designs.

It is very rare that I take an unproductive moment and just sit, enjoy a cheesy movie and do nothing.

Because I feel so guilty like it starts with a small fleeting thought “Sam you should be doing this instead” and turns into a “Sam your so lazy, I can’t believe what a waste of a day”. I am not sure why I do it, but I really do chastise myself.

Perhaps watching Christmas movie on a weekday is not the best use of my time, but as it came to the end, and I was feeling remorse I suddenly realised something very important.

I am grateful that I CAN watch a movie in the middle of the day.

That is the secret sauce to this blog posts today.

You see, I can sit here feeling rotten, beating myself up for not doing enough and then making up for it by working twice as hard tomorrow, and totally lose out on any little pleasure I might have received from sitting with Bella, in my warm cosy living room, watching a movie at 2pm in the afternoon.

But that would be a waste.

Right now I feel blessed and grateful that I can do such a thing, that my business allows me the time off, that I have a beautiful home, that I have a TV which provides me those soppy movies and that Bella is keeping my feet warm and toastie.

So why am I sharing this insight with you today, especially today….

It is important today to look at what we do have, to be grateful for those small moments in time and the things we can do for our souls. There is a lot to get done this week and it is important to  not focus on what we are not, what we don’t have and what we aren’t doing.

I have had a pretty rough couple of months and still feeling the effects physically.  But I have also had the best couple of months in my business, so I can afford to do this.  For myself, my body and my soul. I am grateful for that and for realising this before I sabotage it all with guilt.

Christmas is right around the corner, and we have a busy week ahead of us. But this week is actually the best part of Christmas, it is even better than the day its self.

This week is where all the magic happens and we can create so much joy for everyone. The planning, preparing, expectations, and excitements are what fuels the magic, we should look at every single minute this week and enjoy it. Because after Christmas Day, well it changes.

Take a moment and do these 3 things this week.

  1. find 3 small things to be grateful for.
  2. Notice 3 magic moments.
  3. Share your joy with 3 people.

They say there is magic in Christmas, I believe this, but only if we make that magic.

If you have read this and want to leave a comment, I would love to hear from you. Let me know what you think.
